DANCE STUDIO

Location: Kranj, Slovenia
area: 350 sq.m

The areas that define this project are three studios: studio 01 – the main and therefore the largest studio, studio 02 – a space for yoga and pilates and studio 03 – a smaller, secondary one.

The entrance area includes a reception and a small space for promotional and sales programs. From the entrance, there is a view of two studios. This space extends into common areas for relaxation and socializing, as well as locker room. In addition to these spaces, there is a trainers’ section, a sanitary block, and a storage area.

The project incorporates raw materials such as concrete, perforated metal panels, and sheet metal, which reflect the character of the dance studio itself.

DOUBLE ZONE

Location: Kamnik, Slovenia
area: 40 sq.m

One space – two functions.

The task for this apartment renovation was to design a bedroom area, which did not previously exist. The main challenge was to ensure natural light reached the bedroom, which we addressed by using a glass surface that allows light to pass through from the living room, as well as installing a wooden partition wall made of slatted panels, contributing to a less confined feel.

Creating the bedroom area also required relocating and reorganizing the kitchen. Despite the apartment’s small size, we successfully integrated all necessary elements through efficient space planning. By using the same materials throughout the apartment, we achieved a sense of continuity and cohesion in the interior design.

This renovation project demonstrates how innovative solutions and careful planning can maximize space utilization, creating a functional and aesthetically pleasing interior.

THE VIEW

Location: Slovenska Bistrica, Slovenia
area: 340 sq.m

Family house project nestled in nature.

The property is located on a large plot, surrounded by greenery and isolated from the surrounding. On the ground floor of the house, the living room, kitchen and dining room form one unit, with a focus on the double-height living space.

We used materials in a way to highlight certain areas in the space. The beam that separates the kitchen from the rest of the space is highlighted by a wooden paneling that forms a kind of portal. The kitchen seamlessly transitions into another room, a secondary kitchen hidden behind a large sliding panel.

On the first floor there is a reading area with a view of the surrounding greenery. This area separates the children’s sleeping block from the rest of the space. The master bedroom and bathroom are designed in a hotel style, using darker materials to create a more intimate atmosphere. The bedroom includes a wardrobe that leads to a spacious bathroom.

The clients’ wish for the space was to be functional, while preserving the feeling of spaciousness. Therefore, all elements are designed as storage spaces, complete with hidden shelves and drawers, adapted to the lifestyle and aesthetic preferences of this family.

Location: Ljubljana, Slovenia
area: 13 sq.m

small – smaller – the smallest

The biggest challenge of this project is the limited square footage, only 13m2. It was necessary to incorporate the bathroom into this space, which had previously been shared with other apartments on the first floor.

The bathroom and kitchen are positioned in the first zone of the apartment. The curved glass bathroom wall lets light into this space and creates the illusion of a larger area through its unique geometry and choice of materials.

Functionality is a key aspect of the apartment and the elements such as the bed and dining table are designed as pull-out features for practical use. In the kitchen, elements such as a washing machine and fridge are built-in and hidden.

The linear volume of the kitchen extends through the space into the wardrobe, where, in addition to storage space, there is also a hidden bed. We used light materials in the space, with an emphasis on the kitchen as a functionally different unit in the space.

YOUNG FAMILY HOME

Location: Novi Sad, Serbia
area: 105 sq.m

Where design challenges meet modern functionality.

Our focus was on creating a functional living space for a four-member family. The apartment is in the attic providing both challenges and opportunities that have guided our creative process.

The positions of the pillars were the basis for the further design of the space. One part of the apartment is for service rooms – kitchen and bathroom, while the central part is for the living area. The master bedroom is isolated from the children’s rooms, creating a zone of intimacy.

The biggest challenge in designing this interior was working with slopes. By integrating windows, we enabled natural light to illuminate the space, but also provided a standard for performing some basic functions requiring a certain height.

Custom-made furniture contributes to the functionality and utilization of space, at the same time contributing to aesthetics. The project meets the needs of the modern family and transforms spatial challenges into characteristic interior elements.

URBAN RETREAT

location: Belgrade, Serbia
area: 56 sq.m

Marriage of modern design and enduring tranquility.

This project challenged us to work within existing constraints, which in turn became an opportunity for creative innovation.

Embracing the concept of immutability, we enhanced the existing space with a careful selection of materials and complemented and transformed it. These elements established a harmonious blend of aesthetics, infusing warmth, and visual intrigue. Also, the layout was designed to maximize functionality within the given framework.

Despite the limitations imposed by the existing structure, the space remained versatile, adapting effortlessly to various needs.

Originally envisioned as an apartment complex, the project evolved to incorporate hotel-inspired elements, elevating the living experience. The space transcends conventional boundaries, inviting residents to indulge in the comforts of a hotel within their own space. From common areas that foster interaction to private quarters, Urban Retreat caters to the diverse needs of its users.

Urban Retreat showcases the transformative power of architectural design within the boundaries of constraint.

This project presented a unique set of challenges, primarily the incorporation of vibrant colors and the need to maintain existing installations and furniture. Based on these requirements the space is divided into three zones: reception, manicure, and pedicure areas, along with a massage room and multifunctional space.

In the center of the room, we concealed a structural column by integrating a cabinet, which not only provided privacy for the pedicure area but also became a focal design element. The cabinet’s color segments define their functions, with pink for reception and blue for manicures and pedicures.

The central element of the reception area is the softly toned counter. Behind the counter, there is a wooden wall partition with sliding doors, which separates the reception from the pedicure area while allowing light to filter through to the reception zone. The spa area required extra privacy, achieved with an additional sliding door in a built-in closet. Darker wood and golden details were used for furniture.

WINE AND OLIVES

location: Umbria, Italy
area: 2400 sq.m

A harmonious connection of nature and architecture.

Wine and Olives is a complex of modern, environmentally conscious houses designed with a blend of natural materials.

The main building and five smaller houses surround a central gathering area. The architecture seamlessly integrates with nature, utilizing water elements and large glass surfaces.

The units offer privacy while still being connected to the common space. The use of hemp blocks ensures energy efficiency and temperature regulation. Solar panels power the entire complex. Each unit has its own private parts and views. The central area features a kitchen merging with the living room and terrace. The bathroom offers a reflective and tranquil atmosphere. The main building includes a dining and wine tasting space with a view of the complex.

Each part of the complex can be analyzed separately, but the essence of the w&o project is in the relationship between architecture and nature through the volume and the choice of materials that creates a whole from independent units.
